HOMELESSNESS
In Tokyo there is an estimate of 3,000 to 4,000 homeless people. There are many homeless individuals that live in cardboard boxes, on the street, under bridges, in tents, inside parks, railroad stations etc. Most people believe that the more these people stay on the streets the harder it is for them to become independent and find themselves a job again. Most homeless people in Tokyo were not drug or alcohol abusers and some were actually psychologists, doctors etc with good education, jobs and homes. One of the main causes of homelessness in Tokyo is when the economy declines, unemployment rates go up and the result is the increase of homelessness.
NATURAL DISASTERS
Tokyo has been declared it is at the highest risk of natural disasters; along with Yokohama. Tokyo has had many different natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, and earthquakes. Tokyo is located in along the 'Pacific Rim Of Fire', which is where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions mostly occur. Although in Tokyo, citizens are extremely prepared when it comes to natural disasters if Mount Fuji erupts (although it is currently not active), it will sink Japan including Tokyo. People who may want to move to Tokyo would not want to take the risk and be there when a natural disaster occurs.
POLLUTION
Pollution in Tokyo first began in the mid 1950's and 15 years later was the cause of the disease called Itai-Itai. Over the years pollution became so bad that in 1969 people on the streets started handing out bags of oxygen. In Tokyo pollution has a huge impact on people, the environment and the economy. Due to pollution in water, air and
the land, the environment has been destroyed. People living in Tokyo are
in more risk of diseases and health issues. Pollution is a major push factor
in Tokyo because people would not want to live in a city if they were at risk
of disease and health issues such as asthma.
SOLUTIONS
POLLUTION
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE...
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE...
After 1965, within the next ten years, Tokyo's air was polluted mainly by the smoke from factories. This air pollution was improved by carrying out countermeasures against fixed emission sources, such as strict control of air pollutant sources use of higher quality fuel.
MY SUGESTION FOR A SOLUTION...
To decrease pollution levels in Tokyo more trees should be planted around parks and along walking paths, unneeded factories shouldn't be running and the factories should be cut down to smaller areas. Also, more public transport such as trains and buses should be made so there are less vehicles on the roads.

MY SUGGESTION FOR A SOLUTION...
MY SUGGESTION FOR A SOLUTION...
Homelessness can be reduced by building a hall (like a large town hall) but should only be allowed for homeless people. the purpose of these 'halls' would be to have people working there as guidance councillors for homeless people so they can be helped to get a job, manage there money, save for a house or small apartment etc.. I think this is a great way to help the homelessness. Homeless people need guidance and help from other people to get back to living their lives like everyone should and not have to live on the streets.
